The majority of the population in Förstår is found along the coasts. The major cities that are heavily populated are Strålende, Kunniga, Regn, Ymmärtää, and Älykäs. Many religions are practiced in Förstår. The most common religion is Protestant, because it was brought by settlers from other countries. Other religions include Judaism, Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. Long ago in the early years of our country, people believed in gods and goddesses that would help them with their needs. For example the goddess of the sea, Meri, gave them fish for food and trade to help the land prosper. Another is the god of the forest, Metsä, who have gave them trees for firewood and lumber to build ships. They also believed in snow trolls that lived in the mountains, causing the people to stay away from the mountains. They believed that anyone who would go near the mountains would not come back. As a result, this is one of the reasons why the far northern and mountain areas of the country were never developed and are uninhabited today.
